Jungle!

It's a jungle here on our property! We stopped after our cool plane
ride and some of the weeds are three feet tall! Both sides of the road
have lots of person sized weeds, weeds are growing in the nice gravel
road, and the flowlines need to be cleared out so the rain doesn't
start washing down the nice gravel road. Joe is going to do a quick
mow on the top so it will be easier when we come to work next
time...hello summertime!

Birthday Adventure

Another picture of our birthday adventure. We had a great time! Joe thinks of the best adventures! Anne looks like she knows what she is doing, too:-)

Property!

Another shot from the plane - super cool! Dave took over and got a little closer to the ground so we could get a good look. I could see the bunny on the top!

Plane Ride!

Here I am about 2,500 feet above the ground somewhere around Neillsville on our way to do a fly over our property! it is really neat up here! And can you believe Anne is flying us?!? So crazy! We have a really cool and laid back pilot helping us out - Dave Wells...he is the best!

Rock formations on St. Croix

On last shot on the St. Croix River. There are neat rock walls in
places from when a lava flow happened over 10,000 years ago that
bubbled up an ancient fault.

The water is also very brown and muddy. It has rained a lot here over
the last week. As a matter of fact, where we just were in Duluth and
the north shore they have had record flooding just after we left there
last week. We had to board the boat further downriver because the
normal boat dock is under water. Nature is so cool.

Potholes

These are not your average potholes that pop up every spring after the
freeze/thaw breaks up the road pavement...these are ancient potholes
that formed after the glaciers from the last ice age melted. As they
melted, they formed eddies that swirled in circles. Rocks and debris
in the water, and the water itself, wore away the rock deposits below.
Behind me, you can see a small pothole that is about one bunny
diameter across, and a very large one that is about 30 bunny diameters
across and over 40 feet deep! You can't even see the bottom in this
photo. There are several potholes here in the park, both large and
small. Some of the biggest and oldest in the world are here. Very
unusual and super neat!

Nice day on the St. Croix

Another shot of the St. Croix River from the river boat. The clouds
are beautiful today!

Boat ride!

Here we are on Friday afternoon going for a boat ride on the St. Croix
River. We are in Taylors Falls, MN at the state park. It is a
beautiful day! About 75 degrees with a nice breeze. Joe is checking
the place out to plan an activity for his coworkers. What a neat
place! I think they are going to like it here. I do!

Purple Flowers

This stop is for LT! There are all sorts of purple flowers in bloom on
the sides of the road. They might be lupine plants, but I thought
those were only in the mountains...we will have to look it up! I like
purple flowers.

Gooseberry Falls

Another stop - Gooseberry Falls. Neat waterfall...you can see the
water is a little brown, probably from all the thunderstorms! And
maybe the pine trees, too. I like waterfalls!

Split Rock Lighthouse - part II

And another shot of the light in the top of the lighthouse. It weighs
4.5 tons! It is very beautiful!

Split Rock Lighthouse - part I

Here we are on Sunday afternoon heading back to Minneapolis. Stopped
at the Split Rock Lighthouse. Here I am up in the top of the
lighthouse by the beautiful prisms that make up the light. Very neat!

Bunny!

Here we are at the split rock campground office buying our park pass
for the night. Right on the counter was the coolest bunny ever, so we
had to take a picture together...I love running into my brethren on
our travels!

Silver Creek Cliffs tunnel

Here we are about to go through a tunnel north of Two Harbors - the
Silver Creek Cliffs tunnel. Crazy rock here on the entrance, feels
like we are in the mountains out west! I love tunnels.

Two Harbors - Iron Ore Docks, part Two

Another shot of the Iron Ore docks from the other side of the
bay...you can see all three of them now and the barge getting loaded.
Very neat! And a very nice park here. As I'm typing this, a large
thunderstorm rolled in. We are waiting for it to pass so Joe can take
a picture.

Two Harbors - Iron Ore Docks

Here we are on the north shore of Lake Superior at Two Harbors. There
are three cool Iron Ore Docks on the bay to load taconite onto barges.
If you look closely, you can see a barge on the other side of the dock
behind me. They were first built of wood and then reinforced with
steel in the 1920's. The informational sign said 10,000,000 tons of
the iron ore are shipped out every year - wow! What a neat structure!

Duluth...

Hi everyone! Here I am in Duluth with the whole family - Astro, Orion,
Gus, Anne, and Joe. We are heading to camp in the AutoHome tonight at
the Tettegouche park by Silver Bay. Very neat outside! 52 degrees and
foggy. I love road trips!

Giant Turtle

Hey everyone! Long time no current posts, I know, but Anne as promised
to get everything up and current over the next month. Here I am at Al
and Laura's in Merrillan. We are here to help Anne's dad finish up
with the sale of the station. Today is the day that the property
changes hands and dad will begin the process of retirement...they are
actually down in Black River signing papers right now. I'm really
excited for them, and excited to watch the giant turtle lay her eggs!
